Position Title:  DGM – Business Development

Job Description,

Purpose of the role

–          Generate maximum revenue in the Sales of Learning Centre & Services and/or rooms through achievement of specific revenue consumption and revenue booking goal levels in support of the hotels established merchandising strategies.

–          Actively support the Revenue Growth element by championing assigned market segments and priorities.

–          Provide proactive guest service and timely follow up that meets or exceeds customer expectations and company standards.

–          Contribute toward the maintenance of a professional and ethical image for the Sales & Catering departments of the hotel.

Profile – Roles and Responsibilities

1. Prepare the annual Business Development Plan (proposed way forward) in alignment to Business Unit’s plan  


2. Ensure achievement of monthly / quarterly / annual new client acquisition targets and objectives defined for the country/region.  


3. Analyse business needs to identify new opportunities over and above the present core businesses Full
4. Meet or exceed personal revenue consumed and revenue booking goals as outlined on the Weekly Sales




5. Strategize with regards to alliances/partners to increase company  footprints across the region  


6. Identify  alliances/partners keeping in mind the opportunities at hand and increasing footprints across the region  




7. Identify various tenders/bid opportunities and put forth to the BU Head  


8. Possess thorough understanding of Companies service offerings and capabilities  


9. Understand the customer’ requirements and map the same to the existing offerings of the organization  


10. Drive bid/tender documentation with other departmental stakeholders  


11. Participate actively as a member of the sales and catering team to review and evaluate individual achievements, call plans, market focus, and priorities.  


12. Encourage and perpetuate ateam attitude amongst all employees and management that focuses clearly on guest satisfaction, delivering what we sold them plus a little bit more.  


13. Maintain a minimum weekly solicitation level on qualification and solicitation of existing and new accounts.  


14. Actively and successfully manage the sales process: Lead generation; credentials pitch; asking questions; solution pitch; negotiation; close; handover to the account management team Full


15. Manage huge delegations and showcase Companies  potential/strengths Full
16. Undertake responsibility for new business set ups and ensure effective roll out of new business initiatives & products.  


17. Ensure compliance with the company’s defined information security policies and procedures applicable to the role  


18. Ensure continuous and sustained BD effort which would help in enhancing the Company profile and Brand image  


19. Ensure protection of business ideas, designs, technologies, processes & products innovated by Companies  by means of Patents & Copyrights. Prepare copyright notes & send to attorney  


20. Market intelligence activities – continuously scout for new opportunities, competition information, new initiatives’ that can be proposed to the clients in an ever changing and competitive environment

Qualification & Experience (Education, Experience, specific knowledge, skills, understanding, attitude)

Education: Minimum:Masters in Business Administration/Marketing or Global equivalent


Experience:Minimum 9 – 12 years of relevant work experience

Experience in large bids/tenders responses with basic presentation skills

Knowledge & Key Skills:

Additional Requirements
–          Client Interfacing role with Travel being an Essential factor

–          Fluency in Local Language  – Ability to read write and speak fluently, especially in Hindi & English, knowledge of an additional international language would be very helpful (region specific language can be looked at)

–          Candidates with Banquet sales background from hotel industry will be given a preference
